Dog park areas: Lomita residents love pets, and many of our residents have dogs. Specific grass areas need to be designated to allow for leash-free dog park areas. Our k9 residents deserve a place to run free of leashes. Currently, city park rules require dogs to stay leashed, and there are no legally designated dog-friendly areas at the public parks where pet owners can unleash their dogs.
Playgrounds: Lomita parks have fallen behind in care. The parks and recreation division has dropped the ball, maintaining quality park programs and clean playgrounds. Children’s playgrounds are looking grim and lacking care and attention. Children’s slides and play equipment has graffiti and are dirty. The playsets need to get power washed more often to protect children’s health and safety.
